The presidential campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been set up by the National Working Committee (NWC).
PDP national organising secretary, Umar Bature, confirmed this in a document released late Thursday night.
Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom, was named as the chairman of the campaign council; while Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, was appointed as the director-general.
Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, was listed as the vice-chairman of the council (north); and Seyi Makinde of Oyo, as vice chairman (south).
The presidential campaign council includes Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state, and all other PDP governors.
The council also includes Ike Ekweremadu, a former senate president who is currently on trial in the UK for allegedly harvesting organs.
The former governor of Cross River Liyel Imoke, who serves as deputy director-general of operations, Adewale Oladipo, who serves as deputy director-general of administration, Raymond Dokpesi, who serves as deputy director-general of technical and systems, and Okwesilieze Nwodo, who serves as deputy director-general of research and strategy, are additional members of the campaign council.
Members of the campaign council will be formally introduced on September 28 in Abuja, according to Bature.
