First, his own attempt to create a meme against his Democratic opponent in the race for a Pennsylvania Senate seat backfired. Now he’s seduced by one of New Jersey’s most famous sons. “Hey! Dr. Oz! Stevie VZ is here,” Sopranos star and longtime E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt said in a video Fetterman released today. “What are you doing in Pennsylvania?”
A longtime resident of New Jersey, Oz is a Turkish-American born in Ohio but owns no home in Pennsylvania. “Everyone knows you live in New Jersey, and you only use your in-laws’ addresses,” Van Zant said.
“And you don’t want to mess with John Fettman,” warned musician Oz, the Pennsylvania native and current lieutenant governor. “Trust me. He’s a little out of tune with you.”
Van Zandt continued: “No one wants you to be ashamed. So go back to Jersey where you belong and we’ll have a good time. We’re going to the beach. We’re going to surf. You know… come on.”
The video has nearly a million views.
After winning the Democratic primary, Feltman was sidelined for weeks with a heart attack. Still, Oz didn’t take advantage, and the social media game didn’t seem to help.
A poll by Blueprint Polling last week put Feltman ahead of Oz by 9.3 percent, Newsweek reported. A June poll by Republican polling firm Cygnal found Feltman with a 4 percent lead, meaning Feltman’s lead appeared to have doubled when he was eliminated.
