Somewhere along the line, something went wrong for Davido.

Maybe it was the rushed release of his third studio album, “A Better Time” or his constant need to fuel a rivalry that would later hurt him bad. But something went wrong.

Davido‘s musical career is not at its best. In five years, this is the lowest of the lows he’s had. As a matter of fact, this is the only low he’s had in, possibly, ever.

How that happened, of course, is definitely a consequence of more than one thing. But if there’s anything that’s true, it is that he now needs to get back on track one way or the other.

He somehow thinks a new album might help, but it probably won’t. Last year, he released his first single since “A Better Time,” a song that featured SA’s Focalistic, called “Champion Sound.” The song wasn’t much of a success. Locally, sure, but not that much of a hit. It was evident that Davido would need more than just the normal stuff he’s been doing to finally get back to the proper scheme of things.

Recently, though, it looks like Skiibii might have just given him what he needs. The question is, is this going to revive him from the dead or is it not?

Skiibii isn’t that much of a big deal himself. Well, not anymore. But he has somehow given us the first major national hit of 2022. How he did that with a song that has already been released is a wonder.

The track, “Baddest Boy,” a typical afro song from a bad boy, was part of a project Skiibii released in 2021—a project no one cared about then.

Then, boom, the remix came earlier this year and people started feeling it. Maybe it was cause of Davido‘s input that changed the course of the song for the better, honestly. Or maybe it’s just luck. But the song clicked sha.

Davido being on it makes it the first major Davido release in months. His last major output was on Adekunle Gold’s “High,” a couple of months ago.

Now with this “Baddest Boy” being the number one song in the country, if Davido should come around and drop a dope single now, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna bang way more than “Champion Sound” did. And that’s all he needs, right? Let’s just wait and see what he’ll eventually do.

One thing that’s a fact now though is, Davido‘s dying career has been given a second chance by Skiibii’s “Baddest Boy.” At least that’s what I think.

Well, what do you think?
